Amsterdam 1990

The World Cup was just around the corner – and to get in the mood, the first-ever TFC trip abroad! A glorious victory, as the boys overcome various Cloggies to win the Het Parool Super Cup. It was perhaps the zenith of the glorious (ahem) history of TFC.

Also memorable for the Welsh Elf being reincarnated as the Bandy Buddha – and also feigning injury on Sunday morning to disguise his appalling hangover, along with Sluggie committing a professional foul. “You break my leg!” Tsch, tsch!

No game on the Saturday so North London played South London in the park. Despite many warnings not to try recklessly long passes near a massive lake, Mufti foolishly ignored these sage-like words of advice. Cue very soggy underpants.

That evening we tried to lose Timbo by leaving him pissed and fast asleep on a bench. As we’d missed the last tram some girl invited back to her flat to call a taxi. Was she an angel, or just completely mad?!

For as our host in the first hotel Herr Honecker put it, Amsterdam is where you’ll find “schlots of schpretty gurls!”
