Newcastle 1990

One thing the Tornados can’t be accused of is imagination, which is why following two trips to Sheffield and Cambridge, we also returned to the frozen north for a second time. Once the snow was cleared off the pitch and ball defrosted, the boys achieved two stonking victories.

And so on to the legendary Stage Door night club, where Ziggy danced the night away. But it paled into comparison with the hockey club disco – and Yazz has nothing on “Beer, beer we want more beer; girlies get the beer in, start the flippin’ cheerin’…”

A long, long journey home in the mini-bus – only relieved by the schoolboy humour of Wormer’s whoopee bag. Bad gassage, man!

Also, more romantically, it was where Sluggie met his lovely wife, Sue, all set up by Sue J. So who’s to say these tours are a waste of time and money? (Though as we know, they only ever cost £250 each…)
